The BBC:
" You can eat a berry and then bite into a lemon," says Harvey. "It becomes not only sweeter, but it will be the best lemon you've tasted in your life."
The Miracle Berry -BBC News Report

The Independent:
*Lemons:
Citric fruits are a fruit droppers' favourite tipple because the effect is so dramatic. For me, the effect was quite simply astounding. I was able to munch my way through an entire lemon without a squint. The sour tang had been completely replaced by a smooth sugary taste, a little like a sherbert lemon or homemade lemonade.
*Vinegar:
Vinegar tasted nothing like it did before when I had nearly vomited trying to swallow a gulp down. Although it still tasted like vinegar, the acidic tones had completely disappeared and had taken on an almost treacle taste.

The Telegraph:
The berries may also have significant health benefits. It is possible they could be used as a natural sweetener in foods for diabetics or as a supplement to help people lose weight without being tempted by sugary treats.
Some fruit growers even claim the berries are popular with cancer patients who undergo chemotherapy, because they can help diminish the unpleasant aftertaste.

The Daily Mail:
It sounds like something Willy Wonka might have invented at his chocolate factory - a berry that can make everything sour taste sweet.
Lemons lose their sharpness, vinegar tastes like sherry and a pint of Guinness comes to resemble chocolate milkshake.
After huge success in the U.S., the so-called 'miracle fruit' is proving a big hit at parties in Britain.
Anything they subsequently eat will taste much sweeter than before. The effects last up to two hours.

The New York Times:
The miracle fruit, Synsepalum dulcificum, is native to West Africa and has been known to Westerners since the 18th century. The cause of the reaction is a protein called miraculin, which binds with the taste buds and acts as a sweetness inducer when it comes in contact with acids, according to a scientist who has studied the fruit, Linda Bartoshuk at the University of Florida’s Center for Smell and Taste. Dr. Bartoshuk said she did not know of any dangers associated with eating miracle fruit.

Alyssa's miracle fruit taste tripping party

The flavour tripping party was a huge success. Everyone was really amazed at the vinegar and citrus food items.

The beers were dramatically different and cheap margaritas tasted like top shelf!

Thanks a bunch for this great new food experience!

It definitely does what it claims to. I took one before I drank my glass of water with vinegar in it and it tasted sweet and pleasant with no bitter aftertaste.

Ms A Rayner, Woking, UK

Oh my goodness! The treat starts when the little tablet is dissolving on your tongue. It has such a lovely flavour - kind of fruity - but sweet only in a pleasant way. Doesn't make you feel sick or funny, no artificial flavour.

I'm still experimenting - but so far can't get over how sweet and lovely even a slice of tomato now tastes. What I can't get over is that it is is kind of like how you think the food should really taste. Cherries and blueberries are now like nectar. My plain yoghurt also now has different taste, no need for honey, actually tastes nicer. Can't wait to find other foods to try.

Can't rate this harmless buy trippy treat high Enough!

Miss C Temple, London, UK

Miracle berries have been very useful to me, as a way of getting my boyfriend to eat more fruit - Grapefruit is particularly nice, which is something he would never have eaten. The berries can also be used for making a game out of eating different things, which can help children eat more healthily.

I have also started holding parties, where everyone brings some food and we all try different things. The berries are fun and also beneficial to health

Ms H Lawlor, Tamworth, UK

Wow! After seeing these on TV I thought no way these can work. But I had to give them a go and how wrong I was.

I've been having fun making everyone I know try them, they can't believe that lemons and limes could taste sweet.

They are great fun to experiment or just to watch your mates face as he downs a shot of sweet vinegar.

Highly recommended!
